Senior Director Of Contract Originations

THE POSITION

The Senior Director of Contract Originations will be working closely with our leadership team to originate offtake contracts with commercial entities, utilities, and municipalities. This position will be responsible for identifying and cultivating these relationships, from inception up until contract execution with Cloudbreak Energy. This will involve working with Cloudbreak Energy’s business development team to identify and secure renewable energy sites to support the power being contracted with the target entity, as well as working with the development team to ensure the contracted projects are delivered to the offtaker on schedule.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Director of Contract Originations will report to the Chief Executive Officer, and work closely with other members of the leadership team including the firm’s Head of Policy, Head of New Markets, General Counsel, and Head of Business Development. Some prospective responsibilities include:

  • Working with Cloudbreak leadership to create a commercial offtake originations strategy for large-distributed energy resources including solar and storage. Offtake target examples include data centers, large commercial entities with decarbonization mandates, and municipalities.
  • Leading the outreach, sales process, and execution of Power Purchase Agreements (“PPAs”), Virtual Net Metering (“VNEM”), and Build-Transfer Agreements (“BTAs”)
  • Working with Cloudbreak’s Head of New Markets and Policy in Identifying target markets across the United States where utilities are or are forecasted to be procuring 2 – 20 MWac distributed energy resources.
  • Leading and delegating tasks associated with preparation bid materials for applicable RFPs
  • Negotiating offtake contracts with Cloudbreak’s General Counsel and Chief Executive Officer.

HOURS

Full-time. The position is in Boulder, CO but extremely high-caliber candidates may be considered for remote positions.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven track record of executing offtake agreements for 2 – 20 MWac renewable energy projects.
  • 7+ years of direct experience in renewable energy sales and contracting
  • Previous success or experience contracting with datacenters is an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of revenue contracts and basic renewable energy project finance
  • High level of organization
  • Ability to navigate a front to back sales process with large corporate entities and utilities.

East Coast

Cloudbreak has over 66.3 MWdc of sites under active development in major East Coast markets such as Virginia, New York, and others. These projects span large distributed projects with utilities such as Dominion as well as community solar projects in National Grid and NYSEG service territories.

Midwest

Cloudbreak Energy has been awarded 8 MWdc of distributed solar projects in Iowa. Cloudbreak is actively developing more than 23 MWdc of distributed and community solar projects in several Midwest markets and across multiple utility territories, such as WE Energies, WPS, and Xcel.

West Coast

Cloudbreak Energy has 70+ MWdc of distributed solar and solar plus storage projects in active development in various counties across the Pacific Northwest and in California. The West Coast is a large focus area for the firm as community and distributed solar legislation gains momentum in some of those key markets.

COLORADO

Cloudbreak has been awarded 70+MWdc of distributed and community solar projects with Xcel, Black Hills, and Mountain Parks Electric which are in various stages of maturity, ranging from permitting to COD. Cloudbreak also has 180 MWdc of utility scale solar and 212.2 MWdc of distributed and community solar projects under active development.
